Senior Fitness

Being sedentary is not a way to age gracefully. START specialists work with seniors to develop safe and age appropriate fitness programs.

START's senior exercise programs improve: posture and balance, muscle strength, joint mobility, gait, metabolism and mood. Our individualized programming helps to boost energy, prevent future injuries and promote general wellness.

The body is meant to be exercised at all stages of life but it is the type and level of exercise that should change to meet the differing needs. After the age of 30, physically inactive individuals can lose as much as 3% to 5% of their muscle mass per decade and at around the age of 75 that percentage normally accelerates. If you are an active individual, you will still experience some form of muscle loss. Even moderate exercise can improve the quality of life of virtually any adult of any age or ability. Weight training programs are also useful for the prevention and treatment of muscle loss, joint disease, osteoporosis, hunched posture and age related injuries (fractures, falls, and frailty, to name a few).

We at START address these issues with individualized programming, caring specialists who will work with you to improve functional fitness, and we focus on your future.
